Blues Bodycare - Health & Wellbeing Programmes
Blues Bodycare Primary School programme
This highly successful programme is delivered in schools to Keystage 1 & 2. The scheme runs over 5 weeks and encourages children to become more aware of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
The schools programme consists of an Infant programme aimed at school year 1 / 2 children and a Junior programme aimed at school year 5/6 children. Both programmes are linked to the school curriculum and are a fun but educational way of learning. Over the five week programme children have their own work book and activity diary in which they record all activities that they take part in. The children collect footie stickers for each activity and are rewarded with certificates for their achievements. Each weekly session last an hour and consists of part theory and part practical.
Bodycare Infants – Keystage 1
Week 1: The difference between Healthy & Treat Foods.
Activity: Warm ups
Week 2: Healthy Breakfasts.
Activity: Games to increase the Heart rate.
Week 3: 5 a day Fruit & Vegetables.
Activity: Exercise to Music.
Week 4: Healthy Dinners.
Activity: Circuit Session.
Week 5: Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle.
Activity: Playground Games.
Bodycare Juniors – Keystage 2:
Week 1: Exercise and its effects on the Heart.
Activity: Fitness Test.
Week 2: Breathing and how the Body changes during exercise.
Activity: Heart & Lungs Circuit.
Week 3: The Importance of a Balanced Diet.
Activity: Nutrition Circuit.
Week 4: Identifying Muscles and understanding how they work.
Activity: Muscles Circuit.
Week 5: Final Fitness test and quiz & Presentation.
The Bodycare Schools Programme is a fun but effective way of teaching children the benefits of a Healthy & Active Lifestyle.
Blues Bodycare Tots (pre school)
This programme has been developed to support the Early Years Foundation Stage Education Programme – Physical Development, Movement & Space, Health & Body Awareness and Using Equipment.
A basic warm up is followed by games to develop physical movements using bean bags, different size balls, hoops, cones & parachute games.
Children learn through being active and most importantly having fun. This programme will help children to build confidence and to start to develop the positive benefits of being healthy & active.
Blues Bodycare Fit For Life Over 55’s
This is a 5 week Healthy Lifestyle and Exercise Programme aimed at the over 55 age group. This scheme has been delivered in Southend, Rochford, Hullbridge, Rayleigh Great Wakering, Basildon, Wickford & Chelmsford.
The programme is designed to increase health & physical activity whilst providing information to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Over the 5 weeks participants will different types of activity including: Exercise to Music, Fitness Walking, Resistance Training, Circuit Training and Yoga/Pilates.
Each week the exercise session is followed by an informative talk on various health issues.
This programme is a great way to socialise whilst increasing activity levels. At the end of the five week course it is hoped that the participants will have been introduced to a type of activity that they will continue to do on a regular basis.
Blues Bodycare Seated Fitness
This exercise session is aimed at the less able and all of the exercises are seated. A cardio routine to 60’s and 70’s music mixed with toning exercises and finished with a relax and stretch. The exercises are aimed at improving the range of movement and co-ordination of the participants. The activity lasts between 20 mins - 40mins depending on the group and often the length of time builds as the participants progress.
For this programme we visit Residential/Care Homes and the participants sit in the communal room. This is a great fun activity and social interaction plays a huge part.
